The seed of the idea that is now Sanas Ritual was born in Mexico during my honeymoon in 2019. During this trip, the essence of the offerings you now see originated.
On one of our days out exploring in CDMX we came across this beautiful family owned market stall, Cerámica San Germán where I proceeded to buy a few things for myself. Fast forward to 2021 lockdown, I was going through some old travel things and found a business card, I reached out to them and began to dream of these ceramics forming part of the ritual store.
These Mexican ceramics have been co-created by myself and Cerámica San Germán, some of the pieces are ones they create regularly whilst others like the incense holders and ritual bowls were made especially for Sanas. We worked together to get the colours right, the designs right and I hope this first iteration of Colleción Cerámica lands straight into your hearts just as they did for me that first time I stumbled across the store in 2019
The pieces featured below are Agatha’s favourite.
Cerámica San Germán is a family-owned workshop with 37-years of ceramic tradition, based in Ciudad De Mexico.
The family originally from Tonalá, Jalisco, has embraced the traditional Tonalá style artwork through their pieces and this can be seen through the colours, and the designs of traditional Mexican art such as suns, moons, animals, flowers and cacti.
They create everything from start to finish, mixing their own colours in an artisanal way, using minerals that create beautiful colours when fired and finished.
All their pieces are made without toxins or leads, are microwave & dishwasher safe and can also be placed outdoors, without the integrity of the piece being lost.
